School shootings are becoming more and more frequent in America. It’s becoming normal to hear the news reporting “another” school shooting. High schools and middle schools seem to be targeted the most, and as a 12-year-old in America that attends a public middle school, the thought of a shooter showing up doesn’t seem so distant. At any moment, five of seven days of the week, me or any of my classmates could have our lives cut short just because we’re getting an education. So many children my age die early, and anybody could be next. That’s a scary thought that nobody should have to think, especially kids. I don’t understand how we can go to space, walk on a different planet, and travel faster than sound, but we can’t keep children safe from armed crazy people running into the place they’re supposed to go to learn. That’s just messed up.
