I see how important it is to get involved in politics in order to prevent parties like the CDU from ruining our future | Germany

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Stories

Recently, the European Union held elections for a new parliament. EU citizens, especially younger generations, aren’t on the best terms with their representatives, and feel unrecognized by significant parties like the CDU, the most popular German party. It’s been criticized for empty promises, incompetence, and not acting on the interests of younger people. German Youtuber Rezo created an hour-long video where he exposes the CDU with detailed information and arguments, all backed up with sources. Rezo started a huge public debate, to which the CDU reacted by making false accusations, including claiming Rezo’s followers and viewers were all bots. Through Youtube, Rezo reached the younger generation and lead to an increase of political participation in Germany, which is very important. […]

Teenagers nowadays are being irresponsible and carelessness to the things that should be done. Because teenagers have this huge responsibilities and hard decision making because they’re starting to grow as an adult, so we need to be responsible and matured so that we as a citizen of our country, we can be successful and can help to those people are suffering to a certain type of problems to their lives. As a teenager, I always have a hard decision making in my entire life. Especially inside of our school and inside of our house, I have a lot of things to do but its okay because its my responsibilities as a student and as a son of our family. I always […]

My name is Frederic Kitengie and this is my story. I was born and raised in Johannesburg South Africa however my nationality is Congolese (DR) I have 3 siblings and I am the second youngest. We were brought up in a football family and it’s kind of hereditary that everyone in my family has or still plays football. It feels like it has been passed down to me. Football has been a huge part of my life already and at the age of 17, my dream is to one day become a football manager.  Life hasn’t always been easy especially the fact that I don’t live with my mother and father and if I’m blessed, I get to see them […]

me or any of my classmates could have our lives cut short just because we’re getting an education | U.S.

School shootings are becoming more and more frequent in America. It’s becoming normal to hear the news reporting “another” school shooting. High schools and middle schools seem to be targeted the most, and as a 12-year-old in America that attends a public middle school, the thought of a shooter showing up doesn’t seem so distant. At any moment, five of seven days of the week, me or any of my classmates could have our lives cut short just because we’re getting an education. So many children my age die early, and anybody could be next. That’s a scary thought that nobody should have to think, especially kids. I don’t understand how we can go to space, walk on a different planet, […]

The end of life is death. It is the ending of everyone, but the person is someone you have loved it is painful because you loved them and had memories about them.  The year 2016 June 19th, I woke up from my father’s call. It was surprising and depressing. It is something that I never imagined before. My grandfather the healthiest person in my family who follows everything that the doctor says. Now, he is dying. It is such a strike to me; I suddenly feel lost and didn’t know what to do. My mother and I left our house and head straight to Vancouver Airport.  After, 12 hours of flying and 3 hours of train and it is already […]

Grace was my starting line at every new chapter of my life | U.S.

Hello. My name is Angela Cantiga, a senior high student in the Philippines. Grace was my starting line at every new chapter of my life. By God’s grace, I was able to reach the end and start a new beginning. Everyday lives revolve around infinite choices. But what truly matters is that you’ll be able to live your purpose through the decisions you’ll be making. Back in elementary, I was very shy. I really didn’t know my purpose then. I’d let other people drag me along and dictate my actions. But one day, I had that desire to attend a private school. My parents are only vendors so they didn’t have the luxury to pay for the fees. I tried to […]

I want the planet to stay alive for my generation and generations to come | U.S.

It’s incredibly important that we keep the environment flourishing— something humans haven’t been doing a very good job of over the period of our inhabiting the planet. Somehow, we’ve ripped holes in our ozone layer, increased the global temperature by more than 2°C, created a trash island in the ocean larger than Texas, and driven countless species to extinction. It’s imperative that the US passes the Green New Deal and actively fight to fix the Earth we’ve destroyed. The US is a world leader but barely does anything to help the climate. People look to us for change, but we do nothing. If we implement the Green New Deal, real change might finally come. We’ll switch to renewable energy, work […]

The reality, is you can’t abolish a train of thought by ignoring it. | U.S.

“I don’t see color; I treat everyone equally, regardless of what race they are.” At first, this seems like a reasonable statement. Eliminating the idea of color in the world could be a solution to racial problems that exist today, but there‘s a similarity between people who tend to say this: they‘re not people of color. They‘re not directly affected by our struggles. The idea that you can’t see race ignores the issues that are here in the first place. The government and judicial system in America are not colorblind. There‘s still inequality within the prison and law enforcement systems. The American people are not colorblind. Racially charged hate crimes committed by American citizens still happen. Instead of addressing it, this notion […]

Lots of people in the US get upset about immigrants, but not me, and that’s not fair. | Germany/U.S.

I think it’s really unfair that light-skinned immigrants in the US never get hate for being an immigrant, but immigrants with darker skin are always told to ‘go back to their country.’ Even if an African-American was born here, people still associate them with being immigrants, and tell them things like, “go back to Africa with the rest of your people.” This also happens to Native Americans, in which a white person would tell them to “go back to your own country.” The thing is, Native Americans are native to North America, and aren’t immigrants at all. They’re already in their own country. What’s ironic is that that xenophobe is probably white, and most likely originated in Europe, so they […]
